Coronavirus Exacerbates Xenophobia: Deconstructing Otherness In The Twitter

Free speech is not a licence for racists to spread racist propaganda. However, the outbreak of COVID-19 and its subsequent dissemination through social media has left shock wave disbelief resulting xenophobia in society. By looking from lens ‘Othering,’ this study tries delve into revealing representation otherness amidst Twitter during pandemic. This considers set tweets related #clustertabligh several types tabligh cluster represent otherness. The data were collected random sampling technique using machine learning tools API processed JSON format. results lead discussion power between networks by intertwining science humanities studies. also looks at blame allotting, typical reaction an outbreak, even more general system. Malaysia needs take actions recognizing distinctive levels hateful racial online content brewing addressing it systematically proportionately.
